Local Eats - Big Treat

Today I was once again reminded of how rewarding it can be to not only try something new, but to support local restaurants as opposed to the all too common chain restaurant. Not that you cannot have a wonderful experience at a chain restaurant, but eating locally provides that different flavor your palate is craving and the charming ambiance your free spirit is wanting.

We celebrated a co-worker's birthday today, BBQ style, at Woody's Smoke Shack. This was my first time there and let me tell you, it was amazing! The quaint atmosphere, friendly and fast service, and great company was just the ticket for our weekly lunch outing.

If you're in the mood for some great BBQ, definitely give this place a try!

  1. Woody's is the best food in Des Moines. Smoked Brisket Sandwich with Cheesy Potatoes and Hot Apples... mmmmmmmm.

The free cornbread? Yes, please. You know its BYOB, too, right? That's one of the best parts. Plus Wood and his wife are super nice!
